2017 President Cup: Summer Taekwondo Class Completion, Competition

Myanmar Taekwondo Federation organized the Summer Taekwondo Class completion and 2017 President Cup competition at Aung San Stadium in Yangon from the 26th to 28th of May. Its awarding ceremony was held on Sunday.

Over 500 players from 15 Taekwondo clubs across the country participated in the competition.

Head Coach, Myanmar Taekwondo Federation, Kyaw Than Oo: In the competition, there’re 6 categories for patterns. Matches Under white belt pattern were Under 10, 14, 18 and over 18. And, under 14 and 18 are under colour belt pattern. This is our initial step to judging in line with the new guidelines of the Olympics.

1st, 2nd and 3rd championship cups are presented to Aung San Taekwondo Club, Kayah Taekwondo Club and Thanlyin Taekwondo Club respectively.

Manager, Aung San Taekwondo Club, Win Maung Tun: Our club won 30 gold, 30 silver and 44 bronze prizes in this competition so we earned 1st Championship cup. We trained hard for 2 months for this competition.

Coach , Kayah Taekwondo Club, Kyaw Myo Tun: We earned the 2nd championship cup, and it’s the first cup for our club.  We trained for nearly two months. We faced difficulties – one of them is transportation.

During the 3-day event, there were more than 200 matches a day.

Myat Min Han: I’m from Aung San Taekwondo Club and today I won 2 gold prizes and the best player award. I’m now 12 years old and I started to play Taekwondo since I was a Grade-5 student. I won a gold prize and best player award last year.

Myanmar Taekwondo Federation holds competitions annually with the aim of promoting Taekwondo sport among young people and nurturing new talented players.
