Aung San Statue: Inaugurated In North Okkalapa Township

The inauguration of General Aung San statue and square was held at Kanthaya Park in North Okkalapa Township of Yangon Region on Sunday.

Kan ThaYa park is located on 9.8 acres wide land plot in the North Okkalapa township.

General Aung San statue has been constructed in the park since 1989, but there is no renovation throughout those years.

In 2017, The Bogyoke lover group plan to carry out renovation task with their own cash to maintain the statue.

Member , Bogyoke Lover Group, Soe  Lwin: Kan ThaYa park is the public recreation place in North Okkalapa township. We want to renovate the Aung San statue and Kan thar yar park with the cash donated by the public only. Aung San statue has no renovation for a long time ago. So the statue became damage so we rebuilt the statue and upgraded the statue’s square also.

Responsible person also explained the efforts to renovate the statue and build the square which serve as a model and example for future generations.

Min Ko Naing: If we say about General Aung San, We can’t finish till the end of the day. He is the hero of our people. We have emulated his attitude, justice and effort for the country.  So I am very proud for renovating the Aung San statue. 

It costs 1.1 million kyats and 7 million kyats respectively for the renovation of the statue and square.
