Business Summit: 2nd Myanmar Business Leaders’ Summit In Sule Shangrila

31 May 2017

2nd Myanmar Business Leaders’ Summit was organized by Dentons Law Firm at Sule Shangrila Hotel on Wednesday.

Business leaders from various backgrounds both local and international actively participated in the summit.

The experts discussed the potential of the country in dealing with the inflow of foreign investment.

Central Executive Committee Member,  UMFCCI, Moe Kyaw: Considering the question…is the country ready for the inflow of foreign investment? I must say ‘Yes’. For example, we have Kentuckky Fried Chicken; we have Heineken and Burger king. Also pizzeria is everywhere. Those are instances of foreign investment.

The Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) has approved 5.78 billion U.S. dollars of foreign direct investment in the 2016-2017 fiscal year.

With the increase in foreign investment into the country, there are some challenges to be tackled, he added.

Central Executive Committee Member, UMFCCI, Moe Kyaw: The growth of Foreign investment calls for more human capital. Do we have enough human resource? That’s why I encourage youths to hone their English skill and do online learning, instead of chasing the stupid certificates.

Topics on Finance, Real Estate and Hospitality, Energy/Oil and Gas and Infrastructure were discussed at the summit.
