16 July 2017

The sports minister said at least eight people were killed during Senegal's football league final in Dakar on Saturday. He also said a young girl was among the dead, while around 60 injured fans had been taken to health facilities. Fighting started between rival fans and police responded by using tear gas. Deadly clashes at soccer matches have been common in Africa, where safety standards are low.
