E-Sports: First Ever Online PES Event To Be Held In Yangon

16 July 2017

Myanmar will participate in ASEAN level e-sports competition for the first time in Ho Chi Min of Vietnam.

PES 2017 Champion of Myanmar (Cup3) will be held in the last week of this month to go to the ASEAN level event.

The support for e-sports is still weak in the country and playing online games is assumed as time-wasting by the most.

This is the first attempt to change the attitude, showing it can make billion of money in other countries.

Game Event Director, Myanmar Soccer Game Team (MSGT), Myat Kaung Wai: We used to have game competition in the Internet shop so they are not eligible if we go to the international event. We have to have official game competition like this as they will count on it. So this is the 1st time for Myanmar and our MSGT.

80 gamers are allowed to participate in this Cup3. Among them, 4 semi finalists will be qualified for the ASEAN level event featuring Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia.

Likewise, one gamer who was chosen as PES champion in open class level is already qualified for it.

Gamer, Sai Soe San: I knew about it from the Facebook. I really like playing soccer game than other games like Dota. So I don’t think about win or lose but I really want to compete in it.

The prize money ranges from 100,000 kyat to 1 million kyat will be given with other people’s choice award. The competition will be taken place on July 22nd, 23rd, 29th and 30th.
