EXIM Thailand: Branch Office Opened In Yangon

Export-Import Bank of Thailand aims to help Thailand investors to Myanmar market in terms of strengthening trade and investment between the two countries. And their branch office has been opened in Yangon on Friday.

Myanmar lists “top” of the highest demand for Thai goods and services according to the in-depth study of international business opportunities by the bank.

As of April 2017, Thailand’s accumulated investment accounted for nearly 11 billion or 15.38% of total foreign direct investment in Myanmar.

By taking such opportunity, the EXIM Thailand aims to serve as a market maker to strengthen trade and investment with financial facilities especially for trade as well as to Thai investors.

PRESIDENT, EXIM THAILAND, PISIT SEREWIWATTANA: “So we think that we can help both countries to facilitate on financial side especially for the project finance, especially in trade finance between two countries…. We have seen investment from Thailand Investors project which is we have seen even more than 20 billion USD into Myanmar in the next two or three years.”

Economic information, consultation, business coordination and matching services will be provided by the EXIM Thailand.

The bank also serves as a goodwill ambassador to foster economic ties between the two countries.
