Greek lawmakers began debating a new LGBT bill. This will allow people to change their gender identity without medical treatment. This move was welcomed by the LGBT community but has exposed political divisions and church opposition. The draft legislation by the ruling leftist Syriza party says the minimum age for the change is 15 years. But the right-wing Independent Greeks demands it to be 17 years. However, it has been widely condemned as a violation of human rights.
