Heavy rain kills eight, leaves two missing across China

11 July 2017

A period of heavy rainfall has killed eight people and left two missing as rain has endured across many parts of China since Friday. Storms have forced the evacuation of over 11,000 residents across China.  Some 1,100 houses have collapsed and 11,000 have suffered damage due to the heavy rain. The ministry has urged local governments to take care of residents affected by the rainfall by providing them with food supplies, clean water, and medical care, as well as temporary residences.  More than 1 million people suffered losses in the disaster, which damaged crops and flattened over 6,000 houses.
