KBZ Bank Cup 2017: Japan Universiade ‘The Champion’

Japan Universiade grabbed KBZ Bank Cup 2017 beating Myanmar U-22 Team 2-1 at Thuwana Stadium on Sunday.

Myanmar U-22 Team was the runner-up, winning 5,000 US dollars prize money.

Japan Universiade scored their opening goal in the 5th minute. Myanmar’s Aung Thu leveled in the 53rd minute. The Universiade scored their winning goal in the 89th minute and had become an unbeaten team throughout the tournament.

The most valuable player award was grabbed by Japan’s ABE Shuto. 10,000 US dollars prize money also went to the Champion Japan Universiade.

Most Valuable Player Awardee, Japan Universiade, ABE Shuto : “Very nice Very fantastic feeling now….The weather and pitch condition is very first time he played. So very difficult conditions but so he can play the free games, it's very nice experience for him. ..It was very good experience for him for playing in Myanmar and we could be champion so it's very nice.”

Myanmar won 2 out of 3 matches and Aung Thu grabbed the top scorer award.

Top Scorer Awardee, Myanmar U-22 team, Aung Thu : Actually, we didn’t have much time for formation as we only had training in Taunggyi. But I’m satisfied with the way every player played in my team. We will have better formation later if we focus more on it and follow the coach’s instruction.

KBZ Bank Cup 2017 is a part of Myanmar U-22 team’s preparation for the upcoming SEA Games.
