Linkin Park singer dead in apparent suicide - coroner

Officials say Chester Bennington, the lead singer of rock band Linkin Park, has been found dead in Los Angeles in an apparent suicide. Nathan Frandino reports.

Chester Bennington, the lead singer of rock band Linkin Park, has died. The frontman was found dead at his Palos Verdes home near Los Angeles on Thursday. The Los Angeles County Coroner's office is treating the death as an apparent suicide.Celebrity website TMZ reported the singer had hung himself.

Bennington had a history of alcohol and drug abuse and spoke openly about his struggles.

In 2011, he said he had been sober for six years. His death came a week before the band was due to kick off the U.S. leg of its world tour in support of its latest album, "One More Light." Bennington was 41 years old.
