Music Festival: Raising Awareness For Peace Process

Three level-1’s winners for Sittwe were chosen at the Peace Music Festival on Saturday.  Peace Music Festival has been held throughout the major cities since August.

Ten contestants from Rakhine State performed at this level-1 competition.

The event aims to raise public awareness on peace process.

Union Minister, Ministry of Information, H.E. Dr. Pe Myint said “Both contestants and artists in this Peace Music Festival may talk to raise awareness on peace among the public. As music can disperse easily among the public, we except this will be great support for peace process.”

The public especially youths appeared to participate enthusiastically in the festival, according to officials.

Director General, MRTV, Myint Htwe said “We’ve experienced that local groups involved actively like feeding charity feast during the festival took place in their cities. So we can say the public especially youths are really interested in the peace process and this festival.”

11 events are set to be held for the level1 competitions and this is the 9th event. 36 winners will be selected from this level that will be qualified for level-2.

Contestant, Aung  Kyaw Htet said “I’m so nervous. I found many difficulties to reach this level’s final competition. I’d like to say we really wish to be peaceful in the whole country.”

Contestant, Phyu Hla said “I practiced with my best. I feel nervous for this competition. I just really wish to be peaceful the whole country not just the Rakhine state.”

The audition for level-1 winners from Rakhine State was supposed to be held in Sittwe. But due to circumstances, it was happened to be held in Yangon.

Minister (Rakine Affairs), Yangon Region Government, Zaw Aye Maung said “We arranged transportation for the audience from Hlaing Thaya, Mingaladon and Kyauk Myaung townships so that they can come and support here the live performance. Although it was supposed to be held in Sittwe, I’m thankful for Ministry of Information that they gave us chance to host it in here.”

Level-2 competitions will be held on October 21st and 22nd in Mandalay and 28th and 29th in Nay Pyi Taw.
