Russia's Putin pays tribute to Helmut Kohl

Russian leader Vladimir Putin paid tribute to the former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl. Germany's longest-serving post-war chancellor from 1982 to 1998. At home, Kohl is celebrated above all as the father of German reunification, which he achieved after the November 1989 fall of the Berlin Wall. Russian leader told a reporter that he remembered Kohl from personal meetings as a smart and profound man. Putin also expressed hope that the ideas promoted by the German politician will become reality in the future.
