Myanmar Wushu athletes who secured six medals at the 29th SEA Games arrived back in Yangon on Wednesday.
Myanmar Wushue team grabbed 2-gold, 2-silver and 2-bronze in the ongoing SEA Games event.
Myanmar has been participated in the SEA Games Wushu competition since 1997-the 19th SEA Game, and this is the very first time of achieving gold medals, according to the Joint Secretary of Wushu Federation.
Joint Secretary, Wushu Federation, Khin Soe said “We, Wushu Federation, are very proud for our players. So, this achievement is very worthy not only for our federation but also for our country because our team tried very hard in the competition.”
The gold medalist expressed their feelings and the experiences from the competition.
Gold Medalist, Thein Than Oo said “I am very glad that this is my first time winning the gold medals in the SEA Games. I tried hard in the competition because of my opponent is the champion. I also want to get many gold medals for our country and I will try as much as I can to get the gold medals in the coming games.”
The players have been trained with the assistance of foreign coaches.
The players tried very hard to defeat the athletes from the host country, Malaysia, to grab gold medals for the country.
Gold Medalist, Myat Thet Hsu Wai Phyo said “I tried very hard during the training period to get the gold medal in the 29th SEA Games. And this gold medal was secured very difficult as I tried hard to defeat mainly the opponent from host country-Malaysia.”
Myanmar has already grabbed four gold medals, five silver medals and eight bronze medals in the 29th SEA Games.
