The Austrian Embassy in collaboration with Rotary Club of Yangon hosted the “Vienna Ball” in Yangon on Saturday.
It is the very first edition of Vienna Ball which brings to Yangon by Rotary Club. It is also the charity event that is to celebrate the cultural, social and economic ties between the two countries.
The Vienna Ball is a traditional event recalling the romance and elegance of the 19th century Vienna, Austria.
PRESIDENT, ROTARY CLUB OF YANGON, DR. THAN WIN: “Today event is very special event not only cultural event. It also, we can taste the European especially Austria. It is the great event they do it every year. So we do this one that the organization to get the charity for the work that Rotary is doing.” Over 20 musicians from Myanmar and Austria including opera singers, ballet dancers and instrumental players present the performances to all attendees at Vienna Ball Yangon event.
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, VIENNA EVENT, HEINZ HEIDENREICH: “I am very happy my first time in Myanmar. We have Mix orchestra and Austrian conductors with Myanmar musicians with very new and I think they are playing very well.”
People aside from the different societies come and join with Austrian music, opera, singing and ballet dance tasting with Austrian foods and wine.
DIRECTOR, GITAMEIT MUSIC CENTER, MOE NAING: We got many experiences from this Vienna ball event, especially for our young students. We took around 3 months for preparing many things. I am really happy participated such kind of event.
The organizers hope to bring this event every year with the aim of promoting the culture and friendship between two countries and also intention of giving contributions for Myanmar’s humanitarian needs.
