The 13th ASEAN Political-Security Community work process conference was held at the ASEAN Secretariat Headquarter in Jakarta of Indonesia on Thursday and was attended and discussed the work process by the rotating chairmanship of ASEAN Senior Law Officers’ Meeting deputy attorney general U San Lwin.

In his discussion, the deputy attorney general U San Lwin said that the cooperation among the ASEAN member countries is being accelerated for the development and improvement of legal framework, the cooperation is being carried out between the ASEAN Senior Law Officers’ Meeting and ASEAN Law Association, as the Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters (MLAT) has been attached to the appendix-1 in the ASEAN charter, the process of negotiation for the third countries to be included in the treaty is underway. ASLOM is suggestion and facilitation in the matters of reviewing the implementation of ASEAN Charter, ASEAN’s response to the state of emergency and natural disasters and the protection of child lights.

Moreover, the first meeting of work committee of ASLOM was held in April, 2021 regarding with the drafting the ASEAN agreement on extradition. The attendees of the representatives discussed the ASEAN Political-Security Community Blueprint 2025, ASEaN Post-2025 Vision and the accession of East-Timor to ASEAN.

Together with the rotating chairmanship of ASLOM, deputy attorney general U San Lwin, the director general of the Union Attorney General Office Dr. Thi Thi Myint and officials also attended the conference, it’s learnt.
