Plans are underway to collect Nationwide Population and Housing Census in 2024, and based on the previous experience, arrangements will be made starting 1st October this year through four work processes.
Assessment presentation on collecting 2024 Census took place at the Ministry of Immigration and Population in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.
The officials explained the work process and requirements. Union Minister U Khin Yi urged to implement detailed work plans during the designated time frame.
It is learnt that preparations for collecting 2024 nationwide census will be made to some extend during the tenure of the present government. Detailed plan will be drafted for collecting census data at 110,000 collection plots with the use of Computer-assisted personal interviewing (CAPI) system with the participation of about 42,000 staff. Myanmar has collected nationwide census in 1973 and 1983 respectively.
Due to various circumstances, the census collecting was implemented in 2014 after more than 30 years period. The statistics and data collected in 2014 census have been used as the basic facts for drafting development plans of the nation.
