30th SEA Games: Victory Flag Handed Over To Myanmar Sports Contingent

Myanmar Sports Contingent who are going to take part in the 30th SEA Games was presented a victory flag at a ceremony held at Wunna Theikdi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday. 

Vice President U Henry Van Thio gave guidance to the Myanmar team, encouraging that the athletes have to be at their highest motivation physically and mentally to show the best talent after a long period of training. The Vice President urged all athletes to try their utmost to fly the victory flag of the nation in every sports event.

Myanmar team will participate in 31 sport items out of 56 in the SEA Games. A total of 521 members which comprised of 351 athletes, 127 coaches and 43 admin team involved in Myanmar Sports Contingent.

Coach, Myanmar Sepak Takraw Federation, Thein Zaw Min said “We have a total of 22 members, including managers and coaches, comprised in our Sepak Takaraw team. It includes 12 male and 6 female players. Our main rivals are Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. We also need to consider the host Philippines. We expect to win one gold medal each for men and women event. We also expect to reach final match for men team event.”

During the ceremony, the officials presented cash assistance to the Myanmar sports teams.

Basketball Player, Sandar Win Zin said “I will represent Myanmar team for 3 on 3 basketball event. We have prepared our best with the experienced players. We have many challenges in terms of physical strength and support. But we determined to try our best. Our main rivals are Vietnam and Cambodia.”

30th SEA Games is scheduled to be held in the Philippines from 30th November to 11th December.
