Agriculture sector: MoALI Union Minister met departmental officials

The Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo met with the departmental officials at the Cotton Crop Research and Technical Development Farm (Lun Kyaw Farm) in Kyaukse Township, Mandalay Region in the morning on May 27.

At the meeting, the union minister said that the acreage of cotton crop cultivation will be expanded to fulfill the need of cotton thread for domestic fabric production, import substitution and exporting surplus ones, increasing of benefits for the farmers participated in the production of pedigree crop seeds and the systematic implementation to ensure the seeds quality.  

Next, the deputy director general of agriculture department and head officer of Mandalay Region Agriculture Department clarified the work implementations and the union minister gave necessary instructions.

Afterward, the union minister and officials visited Mya Bayin Diary Factory in Kyaukse Township and viewed the manufacturing milk powder, milk processing, animal feed plantation and cattle raised farm and the union minister gave necessary suggestions for the requirements.  

Next, the union minister and party met with the local farmers at the 35 acres of monsoon sunflower seed production model plot in Sint Kaing Township and conducted cordial discussion with the farmers.

In Sint Kaing Township, 400 acres of monsoon sunflower seed production plantation have been grown and 2400 acres of  seed production plantation  are planned to grow the monsoon sunflower in the whole Mandalay Region this year, it’s reported.
