Boosting Tourism: Arrival Of Chinese Tourists Increase 161% In 2019

Myanmar received over 1.5 million tourist in 2019, 40% increase compared to the previous year, according to the figure of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.

Among these numbers, arrival of tourists from China has increased 161% with around 600,000 visitors.

Sharing common interests and having a long border, Myanmar and China have witnessed closer cultural ties over the past seven decades since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1950.

Myanmar being became one of favourite destinations Chinese tourists led to cementing the existing ties through people to people contact.

Chinese tourist said "It's the first time I've been here. I feel passion and there ar] many delicious food and people here are very impassioned. I like here".

The favourable climatic condition and affordable prices are among their choices, one of the tourist expressed.

Chinese tourist said “The commodities are cheap here, and the weather is warm, much warmer than Shanghai and Beijing.”

Meanwhile, Myanmar granted Chinese citizens holding diplomat or official passports of Myanmar to visit up to Mandalay via Muse through Nandaw Gate in Myanmar-China border of Shan State (North) as of 1st January this year.

This will also help promoting people to people and support boosting tourism industry.
