Chile expects to develop three to five new lithium projects over the next two years as part of a strategy to double its current production of the mineral. As the second-largest producer of lithium worldwide, a crucial component in electric vehicle battery production.
Chile has formally initiated the process for private investors, both Chilean and foreign, to demonstrate their interest in developing lithium projects across 26 salt flats. These flats encompass 18% of the country's saline territory in South America.
