Chinese mainland reports 28 new confirmed COVID-19 cases Wednesday

Chinese health authority said on Thursday that it received reports of 28 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland on Wednesday. Chinese capital city Beijing reported 21 of the 24 domestically transmitted cases, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.

No deaths related to the disease were reported on Wednesday, according to the commission. Three new domestically transmitted suspected cases were reported by authorities in Beijing. The overall confirmed cases on the mainland had reached 83,293.

By Wednesday, the mainland had reported a total of 1,860 imported cases. Also on Wednesday, eight new asymptomatic cases, including two imported from overseas, were reported on the mainland. No asymptomatic case was re-categorized as confirmed. The commission said 111 asymptomatic cases, including 63 imported cases, were still under medical observation. By Wednesday, a total of 1,120 confirmed cases, including four deaths, were reported in Hong Kong, 45 confirmed cases in Macao, 445 cases, including seven deaths in Taiwan region.
