A plane carrying half a million doses of the Chinese-developed Sinopharm coronavirus vaccine landed in Belgrade on Wednesday night. Serbia had already received a million doses of the Sinopharm shot a month ago as it began its rollout.

Serbian Prime Minister said the latest shipment would allow "thousands and thousands" of lives to be saved during the pandemic. Chinese ambassador to Serbia said she was "very glad" Beijing could contribute to the rollout. Serbia has so far vaccinated more than 500,000 people with the first dose and has started administering the second. Most people have received the Sinopharm shot, followed by the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and Russia's Sputnik V. Earlier this week, Serbian President said the first batch of Astra-Zeneca vaccines are expected to arrive in Serbia by the end of February.
