The construction of the two makeshift hospitals for treating patients infected with the novel coronavirus, is underway in Wuhan City of central China's Hubei Province.

Located in suburban areas of Wuhan, the two Hospitals will play a crucial role in the battle against the novel coronavirus, attracting worldwide attention. Currently, more than 4,000 workers and 100 machineries are toiling away day and night at the construction site of the hospital, which is planned to take up an area of 33,900 squares meters by the time it goes into operation on Feb 3. To ensure construction speed, workers are working on three shifts, assembling wards and hospital units. So far, the land has been leveled and concrete pouring has been completed.

The framework of the first two-floor hospital ward has also been erected, and workers are now installing inner facilities. According to China Global Television Network (CGTN), graphic designs for the first and the second phases of the program are complete. The field leveling work has been finished, and water-proof and impermeable layers have been placed. Building a hospital from scratch within a week is not a first for China. Back in 2003, Chinese authorities built Xiaotangshan hospital in Beijing to respond to the SARS epidemic. It successfully treated one seventh of the nation's SARS patients.
