Crackdown on Illegal Residency: 1,038 Chinese citizens arrested during operation in Namtsam

In its commitment to ensuring peace, stability, and the rule of law, particularly in border areas, the government has been taking actions against illegal residency of foreigners who entered the country through unauthorized means.

To address this issue, authorities have implemented a thorough scrutiny process, in accordance with existing laws, for the repatriation of these individuals. Starting January 23rd, the security forces, acting on a tip-off about the illegal residing of Chinese people in Namtsam area of Shan State (south), and a total of 1,038 illegal Chinese people have been arrested from 3 different places in the nearby area of Namtsam.

Further investigation is underway in line with the law and procedures. Concerning this arrest, the illegal media outlets disseminated false news on social media network. The government will continue scrutinizing process for crackdown of illegal residency, online frauds and other illegal activities across the country while actively cooperation with the neighbouring countries.
