A cruise ship turned away by four Asian governments due to virus fears anchored on Thursday off Cambodia for health checks on its 2,200 passengers and crew.

The Westerdam is anchored a kilometre from the main port and a team of health officials will board to conduct health checks and determine the disembarkation process. Thailand on Tuesday had refused to allow the Westerdam to dock at a Thai port after it had already been turned away by the Philippines, Taiwan and Japan, as well as the US territory of Guam. The ship was unwelcome despite assurances from operator Holland America Line that no cases of the viral disease known as COVID-19 have been confirmed among the 1,455 passengers and 802 crew members on board.
