G-mail and Google Account Security Seminar was held by US ICT Council for Myanmar in Yangon on Friday.

Jirawat Poomsrikaew, the Head of Public Policy and Government Relations Manager of Google Thailand, conducted an exclusive Gmail and Google Account Security Seminar. The seminar, a part of Myanmar Cyber Security month campaign, was conducted to help and educate the SMEs in Myanmar as well as the general public about the importance of security when using online.

Executive Director, US ICT Council for Myanmar, Max Shu Teasdale said “The adaption of mobile phone is very quick and may be people don’t know much about the environment and risk of going online. We think it’s very important because here we are partnering with UMFCCI so that we can reach SMEs and companies. They can spread the words outside about cyber security.”

Myanmar designaged October 2019 as its first National Cyber security Month (MCM) to raise public awareness about how to be safe using online and how to protect their data and devices. The campaign has been organizing by Cyber Security Department of MOTC, Myanmar Computer Federation (MCF), Myanmar Information Security Association (MiSA), US ICT Council for Myanmar as well as UMFCCI.

Vice President, UMFCCI, Thaung Tin said “UMFCCI is currently participating in four activities for this national cyber security month campaign. The Cyber Readiness Challenge, mentoring for the challenge, seminar for digital payment security and also seminar for online trading with one week special sale festival will be included.”

In coming week, there will be a Cyber Readiness Challenge which is intended for Government organizations as well as Myanmar business companies especially SMEs to participate in the five stage program. There would be a couple of more seminars within the rest days of October.
