Downtown Shanghai remains under lockdown

Much of downtown Shanghai remained closed on Tuesday as a new round of mass testing was ordered in the latest anti-virus measures taken there.Jing'an district in central Shanghai entered a three-day "quiet period" on Sunday. During the "quiet period", three rounds of mass testing were carried out and residents were not allowed to leave their homes except for a virus test.Shanghai has seen a steady decline in the number of local infections in recent days, with 480 cases reported on Tuesday.Of the city's population of around 25 million, 420,000 residents were banned from leaving their homes, while nearly 1.5 million were under lighter restrictions in their residential complexes.
