Emergency Declared After Chemical Storage Tank Fire

Rayong provincial administration has declared a Level 2 emergency, after a chemical storage tank fire at the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estatein Thailand.

The fire broke out at a pyrolysis gasoline tank owned by Map Ta Phut Tank Terminal Co., Ltd. Four people have been injured in the incident. All residents in the vicinity of the fire are advised to evacuate immediately. The company apologized for the incident and said that safety of the community and the environment is their top priority.

The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand(IEAT) has ordered the company to temporarily suspend some of its operations. The authority is also investigating the cause of the fire.
