Esports Tournament: Road To SEA Games 2019

The second day final of Myanmar’s biggest Esports tournament “Myanmar Electronic Sports League (MESL): Road to SEA Games 2019” took place at Yangon Convention Centre, Sunday.

It was jointly organized by Coca-Cola Myanmar and HOG Esports, aiming to strive sport spirit among youth communities in Myanmar through esports and to give continuous support to local Esports community.

IMC Manager (Marketing), Coca-Cola Myanmar, Mon Mon Hlaing said “Esports is now popular internationally. As we know, esports is now including as one of the official games in upcoming SEA Games 2019. That’s why, our young talented Esports players are getting have a chance to compete in coming SEA Games. I’m really appreciate and proud of them as well.” 

The players will be conducted trainings and booth camps in Myanmar before going to the SEA Games.

Founder, HOG Esports, Kaung Myat San said “After this tournament, the winner groups will be conducted continuous trainings and booth camps before going to the SEA Games. We will try to become the best participants in the Games. And also, I hope this kind of more Esports events are set to be held in Myanmar.” 

More than several hundreds of players from all over the country participated in the competition which started on 19th May of this year. Among them, eight finalist teams competed in the two-day final.

Winner Team, Burmese Ghouls said “Our team won with the result of 2-0 in the competition. We will compete in coming SEA Games with the game category- Arena of Valor. And there are 1 coach and 6 players in our team. So, we will try our best and we hope to grab gold medal for our country.”

The winners of the tournament in three game categories such as Dota 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) and Arena of Valor (AoV) are going to represent Myanmar in the 30th SEA Games that will be held in the Philippines from November to December.
