Export Sector: Marine products export condition to China

From April to October of 2022-2023 Fiscal Year, over 250,000 metric tons of marine products were exported to abroad and it earned 417.398 million USD. Among them, 53,174. 583 metric tons for 134.537 million USD were to China.

Ni Ni Aung, Deputy Director, Department of Fisheries said "China is the second country where marine products are mostly exported from Myanmar. To get the permission to export marine products to China, our department needs to connect the Decree of the General Administration of Customs (GACC) of the People's Republic of China. "

Exporting marine products to China were suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting from the 20th of June this year, only alive marine products were allowed to export to China through border gates according to the COVID-19 rules and regulation. And, now, cold, dried and alive marine products can be exported to China by sea and air as well as through border gates.

Ni Ni Aung, Deputy Director, Department of Fisheries said "Currently, after connecting the Chinese industrial zones to store marine products and to get registration, marine products from 58 aquaculture processing plants, 22 cold storage and processing plants in Myanmar are being exported to China. "

Currently, only natural marine products are allowed to export, and the fishery department has been working to be able to export farming marine products in the future. For exporters, it is essential to follow the guidelines of World Trade Organization (WTO) and rules and regulations of COVID-19 and GACC in exporting marine products.
