Fake News: Disinformation on incident at villages in Waw Township

Fake news on social media network alleged that the security forces arrested over 80 people from Anyar Su and Upper Waipat Villages in Waw Township of Bago Region on 24th January. It also claimed that a wooden bridge connecting the two villages were also destroyed by fire.

The true incident is that the security forces carried out operation according to a tip-off about recruiting and extortion by the terrorist insurgents in the villages in Waw Township. During the incident, the terrorist insurgents set fire a bridge before fleeing away. The illegal destructive media are disseminating the fabricated news to sow discord among the local people and security forces and to tarnish the image of the security forces.
