Floating Ashes Ritual: Ashes Of Late Sayadawgyi Floated Into Paung Laung River

The ceremony of floating the ashes of the remain of the late presiding Sayadaw of Mahawithutarama  Zaygone  Pariyatti Sarthintaik, Pyinmana Township, State Awwadasariya, Abhidhajamaharathaguru, Dr. Baddanta Kawithara  was held at the jetty of Paung Laung River near the Kyi Taung Village, Zayyarthiri Township in the morning on 15th June.

First, in the ground of Uppatasanti pagoda where the pyre is existed, the members of Sangha, deputy ministers of religious affairs and culture U Aye Tun and U Tun Ohn, member of Nay Pyi Taw Council U Myint Soe and disciples contemplated the impermanence, non-self and suffering of all existence and beings by reciting three Samvega Gatha  starting "Sabbe sankhara anicca" ti  and the master of ceremony sought the permission to float the ashes of the remain of the Sayadawgyi.

Then, the ashes and relics of remain of the Sayadawgyi put in the gilded and silver pots were conveyed on the Karaweik ceremonial vehicle to the jetty of Paung Laung River near the Kyi Taung Village, Zayyarthiri Township in line with the ritual procedures.

Next, the members of Sangha, Sayadawgyi’s relatives and disciples carried the gilded and silver pots onto the boat tied up at the jetty of Paung Laung River. Afterward, the boat carried the ashes of remain of the Sayadawgyi anchored at the designated spot, the members of Sangha, Sayadawgyi’s relatives and disciples contemplated the impermanence, non-self and suffering of all existence and beings by reciting three Samvega Gatha starting "Sabbe sankhara anicca" ti,  floated the ashes into the river, shared the merits gained and paid final homage dedicating to the Sayadawgyi. Sayadawgyi passed away at the age of 95 and 75 vassa or years of monkhood, it’s learnt.
