Football Matches Resume: MPT-Myanmar National League1 To Be Resumed On August 22nd

MPT-Myanmar National League 1 will resume from August 22nd to the first week of October.

2020 Myanmar National league football matches have been suspended in March of this year due to COVID 19 outbreak and it’s been about 5 months.

There are a lot of impacts of COVID 19 in the country’s football sector and the football club owners, Managers and players faced many difficulties. It effects on the income of footballers, suspension of trainings for the players and losses of football clubs.

So, it needs to resume the events as soon as possible in line with the health instructions of the Ministry of Health and Sports to keep ongoing progress of football sector and to relive financial losses of football clubs, U Soe Moe Kyaw, CEO of Myanmar National League said.

CEO, Myanmar National League, Soe Moe Kyaw said “To resume the matches, we have planned to set facility quarantine center and we put quarantine to 240 players of 8 clubs in the hostels of MNL. The training will be conducted to the players of respective teams in five complexes owned by Myanmar Football Federation. All the football clubs have to stay in camps during the event in line with the guidelines of MoHS.”

Officials from the Ministry of Health and Sports inspected Yangon United sport complex, preparation of the clubs, conducting trainings and Thuwanna Football stadium on July 13th for resuming of the events.

In resuming the MNL football matches, all events will be held at three places in Yangon, the CEO of MNL added.

CEO, Myanmar National League, Soe Moe Kyaw said “We need to resume the event as quick as possible because if the event schedule is long, the club owners will face financial problems due to the contract term and salaries. All of the matches will be held in Thuwanna stadium, Yangon United Complex and Padonma Complex in Yangon.”

The football matches will be held without live audience and will be aired on TV channels. All process of the events will be conducted in line with the health instructions of COVID-19 prevention.
