Frequent typhoons force Filipinos to move inland

Nearly a decade after, one of the country's deadliest natural disasters, families in the Philippines are still adjusting to a new reality. People are beginning to settle into new homes built by local government to replace buildings destroyed by Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, but many still miss their coastal community.

About 20 typhoons and storms batter the Philippine archipelago each year. It is located on the Pacific "Ring of Fire," a region along most of the Pacific Ocean rim where many volcanic eruptions and earthquakes occur, making the nation one of the world's most disaster-prone.A team from the eastern city of Tacloban is continuing to develop housing projects away from areas at risk of flooding or storm surges, bracing for further typhoons.
