Good Deed: Golden lotus robe offering to Maravijaya Buddha Image

The gala ceremony of offering golden lotus robe to the Maravijaya Buddha Image was held on a grand scalein the Buddha Park of Dekkhinathiri Township of Union Territory Nay Pyi Taw in the dawn of full-moon day of Tazaungmon.

Member of the State Administration Council Lt. Gen Nyo Saw, Union Ministers, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman and many other officials as well as Wut associations and invited guests attended the ceremony. The ceremony was firstly inaugurated with three times recitation of "Namotassa". And, the attendees conveyed the nine golden lotus robes to the Maravijaya Buddha Image.

Upon conveyance, the Wut associations recited nine attributes of the Lord Buddha. Then, Member of the State Administration Council Lt. Gen Nyo Saw, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture and Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman offered 9 non-stale golden lotus robes to the Maravijaya Buddha Image.

And, Lt. Gen and the congregation paid homage to Maravijaya Buddha Image and offered alms food, fruits and flowers, water and oil lamps and shared the merits gained. Then, theceremony was concluded after chanting of “Buddha Sasana Siran Tittatu”three times.

Non-stale robe offering ceremony was held on the occasion of Tazaungmone as a tradition of the Myanmar people. On the eve of the full moon day, the robes are to be made and finished before the dawn of the full moon, dedicated to the Lord Buddha.

It is reported that the offering ceremony of woven robes is held throughout the country in a crowded manner and also this year, the very first offering of non-stale robe to Maravijaya Buddha Image was made by the congregation led by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla.
