Goodwill Visit to Russia: C-in-C Presented with Honorary Professor Title

A ceremony to present the ‘Honorary Professor of the Russian Military University’ title to the Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing took place on Wednesday evening at the University.

Before the ceremony, the Senior General looked at the library of the University. When the ceremony began, the principal of the University Lieutenant General LgorMishutkin said that the title would be presented as the Senior General promoted relations between Myanmar-Russian armies, cooperation on military technical matters and strengthening Russia-Myanmar relations by sending scholars.

Then, the principal presented the title a badge marking the 100th anniversary of the University to the Senior General. The Senior General expressed words of thanks for receiving the title and pledged to make efforts for better Russia-Myanmar military and civilian cooperation and military technical and scientific development. After his speech, the Senior General introduced the principal to Myanmar military scholars.

The Senior General also looked around the university’s exhibition hall and signed the guests' book. He also looked at another exhibition hall displaying the gifts presented by the international communities to the Russian Defense Minister and exchanged gifts. The Military University of Defence Ministry in Moscow is one of the oldest universities in Russia.

The university started as the Teaching Institute on the 5th of November in 1919. It was promoted to a military college on the 20th of July in 1974 and to a military university on the 20th of July in 1994.
