Health Awareness: Magway CM attends tobacco related clarification

A regional ceremony for clarification on standard packaging of tobacco products and prescriptions,directives and scrutinizing under printing order of heath awareness images and texts was held at Magway city hall on Wednesday where region chief minister and region government ministers, members of region administration, rectors from Universities of Basic Health and Medicines,deputy director generals from region health departments, directors and heads of township health departments, health staff and students from the Universities of Basic Health, Medicine and Nursing Training were in attendance.
First,region chief minister U Tint Lwin gave the opening speech saying that Myanmar signed the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) in 2003 and carrying out the provisions step by step.
Today ceremony is held for effective packaging of tobacco products and printing of health warning pictures and texts and it will surely prevent health issues of the public from the use of tobacco and reduce the impact on socio-economic life.
It is needed to consider to perform as a national duty to prevent disadvantages and losses in use of tobacco products and he called for efforts into raising awareness on oneself and surrounds and to practice of standard living.
Afterwards, Dr. Nyi Nyi Lwin, Deputy Director of Magway Region Public Health Department (Disease Control) clarified on the standard packaging of tobacco products and printing health warning images and texts and health supervisors (2) from Public Health Department made performances and chief minister presented cash of honor.
