Health Information: Detection Of COVID-19 Variant ‘Omicron’

Ministry of Health released information on detection of the COVID-19 variant ‘Omicron’. The information states that the Ministry is continuously conducting “COVID-19 Molecular Disease Surveillance”, and releasing information on the detection of COVID-19 variant ‘Omicron’.

The laboratory samples of the COVID-19 virus of 28 Myanmar nationals entering from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, the Republic of Korea, the UAE, India and Japan by relief flights were tested. The test shows that they have the COVID-19 variant ‘Omicron’.

They have been admitted to designated hospitals for medical treatment - those who took the same flights with them now undergo strict quarantine and lab tests.
