Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez addressed the current health and economic crisis resulting from COVID-19, the fight against drug trafficking and the current challenges posed by the climate crisis.

He spoke that at the UN on Wednesday. Hernandez emphasized that the World Health Organization transformation is needed after the inequitable distribution of vaccines during the pandemic. "Despite having the money available, we could not have access to the vaccines," Hernandez said that during his address to the United Nations General Assembly.

Only 17.3% of the Honduran population has been fully vaccinated. Hernandez proposed establishing a climate change research center highlighting the responsibility of the industrialized countries to comply with their climate change commitments. The president placed particular emphasis on the drug trafficking situation.
