Illegal trade: Timbers, industrial materials, vehicles confiscated

On 23 March, the Mon State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force confiscated various sizes of car tyres from freight trains at the Mawlamyine railway station.

On 26 March, the Lashio Township Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force captured an unregistered Nissan Diesel truck at the Yepu permanent checkpoint.

On 1 April, an inspection team from Monywa police station seized 50 barrels of kerosene at the industrial zone in Monywa Township.

On 3 April, an on-duty team of the Customs Department nabbed 53,525 kilogrammes of wood furniture screw from a container at the Myanmar Industrial Port Terminal container checkpoint. A total of 22.03 tonnes of illegal timbers was seized in the Bago district.

Therefore, five arrests (estimated value of 144.253 million Kyats) were made on 23 and 26 March and 1 and 3 April, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
