On Sunday, police officers from the Economic Crime Suppression Division searched a warehouse in the Bang KhunThian area, discovering a stash of counterfeit elephant pants, evading import taxes and causing about exceeding 6 million baht in damage.

A warehouse owner overseeing the merchandise at the location could not provide any document for tax payments to the police. Elephant-patterned pants currently in high demand among foreign tourists visiting Thailand are copyrighted. A crackdown on an influx of cheaper counterfeit elephant pants from China is to safeguard Thai creativity and interests.
