India has resumed exports of coronavirus vaccines after halting them during a devastating surge in April.

The renewed exports are focused on neighboring countries and will be increased in the coming months, once most of India's eligible adult population is vaccinated. The vaccines have so far been exported to Nepal, Bangladesh, Iran and Myanmar.

Before halting exports, India donated or sold 66 million vaccine doses to nearly 100 countries. India is expected to be a key supplier for the world and for the U.N.-backed initiative aimed at vaccine equity.
