Indonesia Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto said on his Instagram account that the Indonesian air force and Boeing signed a memorandum of understanding on the purchase of F-15EX jet fighters. Minister Prabowo and Mark Sears, the vice president and program manager for jet fighters at Boeing, witnessed the MoU signing at the Boeing company headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri, United States.

The signing of the MoU came after Minister Prabowo in November last year met with U.S Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin. At the time Prabowo said, that Boeing and the Indonesian government had agreed on the purchase price of the jet fighters, with the minister adding that the price was affordable.

In early 2022, the U.S. Department of Defense agreed to sell F-15 jet fighters and other military equipment to Indonesia. The F-15EX jet fighter is a new variant of the popular F-15 category made by Boeing, and is said to be the most versatile jet fighter in the world currently.
