Industry minister promotes seafood from northeast Japan

The release of treated and diluted water from the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant is scheduled to happen on Thursday.

Ahead of the discharge, Japanese industry minister Nishimura Yasutoshi called on people to enjoy marine products from the country's northeastern region.

He reassured the public that the items are safe.  He said that all the related data on marine products will be made available daily to everyone.

He added that the government hopes people will feel safe and that consumption of the region's products will increase more than ever before.

The minister said he would do his best to boost consumption of the region's marine products, as their safety will be assured.
