International Customs Day: Commemoration Ceremony Held in Yangon

The Customs Department under the Ministry of Planning and Finance celebrated the 31st International Customs Day Celebration in Yangon on January 26th.

Chief Minister U Hla Soe delivered the speech, saying that the Customs Department plays a key role in combating illegal trade, so it must be effectively implemented the tasks in accordance with the Department's laws, rules and regulations.

He urged all employees to implement the objectives and responsibilities of the department, that have been assigned to them without corruption. The Chief Minister and officials awarded to the outstanding staff of the Department. 24 staff received the Best Performance Award for actively and satisfactorily performed the duties assigned by the Ministry, 48 staff received the Honorary Award, and 10 staff received the Appreciation Award.

The Chief Minister and party later viewed the Customs History Museum. Myanmar became the 109th member of the World Customs Organization on March 25, 1991 and since then, the International Customs Day celebration has been held annually on January 26th.
