The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach has said the rearranged Tokyo Olympics can be 'a symbol of hope' for the world. Speaking from Switzerland on Wednesday, Bach said the coronavirus crisis had left people in a tunnel. The IOC took the unprecedented step of postponing the games earlier this year.
No Olympics have been postponed before in peace time. Bach added he was confident measures being put in place to protect athletes and people working at the Olympics from coronavirus would enable them to take place in July and August next year.
