A team of Japanese archaeologists in Turkiye has unearthed a nearly fully intact clay tablet believed to be from the era of the Hittite Empire, which thrived more than 3,000 years ago.

The tablet was discovered at the Buklukale ruins in central Turkiye.A team has been researching the area for 15 years. In May last year, the team found a palm-sized clay tablet, at the northern side of the ruins. The latest discovery suggests Buklukale was an important city with ties to the Hittite royal family.
