Japan's Princess Mako met with Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday upon visiting Lima to mark the 120th anniversary of Japanese immigration to the Latin American country.
The 27-year-old royal also met with Japanese Peruvians as part of a South American trip that will see her take in the ruins of Machu Picchu. Peru was a major destination for emigrants from Japan, with official estimates of 100,000 Peruvian citizens belonging to the Japanese diaspora. Following Peru, Princess Mako will travel to Bolivia on July 15.
