K-pop band BTS has become a special diplomatic envoy for South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

On Tuesday, BTS was appointed as the "special presidential envoy for future generations and culture" ahead of the visit to the United Nations General Assembly session in New York next week. Moon thanked BTS for their contribution, and said they have been very "helpful" to him diplomatically.

The band was also given special diplomatic passports at the event, which can be used at airports around the world, according to the Blue House.  Moon and the BTS will participate in a UN event named "SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) Moment 2021" next Monday.
