Japanese Prime Minister Kishida is reportedly planning on announcing his decision Friday on whether to submit the nomination of the former gold mines on Sado Island in Niigata Prefecture for the UNESCO World Heritage list.

The decision had been postponed as South Korea had been opposing the nomination, arguing that workers from the Korean Peninsula were forced to work there during World War Two. The deadline for the submissions is Tuesday.
